Deva Asylum, aka Countess of Chester is situated on the grounds of a live hospital site. Originally opened in 1829 the hospital served a variety of purposes before finally closing in 1996. Inside the main part was suprisingly intact with no real damage to be seen. Notable features include the"Hazard" Room and the children's books set into the walls behind glass screens. Presumably left over from the art exhibition held there a few years back, although we can only wonder.Back to Hospitals and Asylums
